HYDERABAD, Aug 17: Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo has said that if Pakistan was to remain intact, the provinces must be given equal rights.

He was speaking at the Democratic Forces’ Conference organized here on Friday by the Communist Party of Pakistan on 22nd death anniversary of noted communist leader Nazeer Abbasi.

He said that the country had ceased to exist as the Pakistan of Quaid-i-Azam because in Jinnah’s Pakistan, the provinces were equal.

He said that in today’s Pakistan three provinces had become the slaves of one province and added that the country had been converted into a fascist state.

Severely criticizing the tribal system, Palijo said that all the bad things were allowed to exist in the country under a planned conspiracy.

He said that before resolving the problems, it was necessary to identify their causes and added that it took centuries to change the entrenched system.

He paid rich tributes to Nazeer Abbasi for his sacrifices in the struggle against the class system.

The central leader of his faction of the CPP, Comrade Imdad Kazi, deplored that the feudal tendencies in the political parties, including the nationalist ones, were still at work.

Severely criticising the army generals, he urged the people to rise against them.

He demanded that the army should go back to the barracks and an interim government, comprising the retired judges of the Supreme Court, should be appointed to hold the general elections.

He also demanded the removal of the Election Commission and appointment of an impartial commission to supervize the elections.

He said that the CPP would support those parties which were struggling for the restoration of democracy.

He dwelt at length on the efforts of the imperialist forces to enslave the human race.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Afzal Gujjar, Shamshad Mughal, Saleem Tareen and Dr Nazeer Shaikh.

SDDF: The Sindh Democratic Doctors Forum (SDDF) at a meeting held on Friday has appointed the district organizers for Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Khairpur, and Jacobabad to reorganize the forum and hold elections at the district level.

Dr Rafique Khokhar, the chief organizer of the SDDF, presided over the meeting.

The meeting demanded that the services of contractual doctors should be confirmed and their outstanding salaries should be paid without delay.

It demanded that the age limit of 40 years for post-graduation training should be abolished and the Public Service Commission Examination for the doctors should be held without delay as they had not been held since 1998.

In another resolution, the meeting demanded that the salaries of the house job doctors of Sindh should be equal to those of Punjab.

SPSC RESULTS: The controller of examinations, Sindh Public Service Commission, Hyderabad, has announced the names of eligible candidates who were interviewed by the commission for the posts of staff nurses, BPS-14, in the health department.

The commission has declared 54 candidates suitable and has recommended their names to the government for appointment.

The controller has also announced that the written test for the posts of Mukhtiarkar, BPS-16, will be conducted on Sept 8.

The admission letters were being issued to the eligible candidates on their postal addresses. If any candidate did not receive the letter by Sept 2, he/she should contact the commission officers at Karachi and Hyderabad, the controller added.
