ISLAMABAD, Aug 16: The Election Commission said on Friday it would start the process of allotment of election symbols to the political parties from Saturday.

The Election Commission (EC) will consider the application for allotment of symbols to 17 political parties on Saturday, says a press release.

The EC announced that only one representative of each political party, duly authorised by the party leader, would be allowed to attend the meeting. It said no individual notices to the parties would be issued and the press release be treated as due notice for the purpose.

The parties whose application for allotment of election symbols will be considered on Saturday are Pakistan Tehreek-i- Insaf, Pakistan Itehad Tehreek, Sindh National Front, Pakistan Gharib Party, Jamote Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Awami Party, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Nifaz-i-Shariat), Pak Muslim Alliance, Awami Qiadat Party, Mutahidda Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Workers Party, Pakistan Freedom Party, Awami National Party, Pakistan Seriaki Party, Punjab National Party, Jamhoori Wattan Party, and Tehreek Jamhoriat Pakistan.

On Sunday, the EC will take up the application of Mohajir Qaumi Movement Pakistan, Qaumi Inqilab Party, Mohib-i-Watan Naujawan Inqilabion Ki Anjuman, Markazi Jamaat Ahle-Hadith Pakistan, Istiqlal Party, Qaumi Jamhoori Party, Balochistan National Movement, Labour Party Pakistan, Millat Party, National People’s Party, Shan-i-Pakistan Party and Pakistan Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party.
