HYDERABAD, Aug 16: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit, here on Friday issued show-cause notices to SHO and head munshi of the Dadu police station to appear before the court in an illegal detention case.

An inquiry by the additional district and sessions judge, Mehar, held the police officials responsible for making false entries in the station diary and filing false affidavits in respect of unlawful detention of Syed Noor Nabi Shah, an employee of the Health department, Dadu.

After going through inquiry papers and report of the ADJ, Mehar, the SHC bench, comprising Justice Mohammad Moosa K. Leghari and Justice Zia Pervez, ordered that show-cause notices be issued to the SHO Mukhtar Ahmed Sario and head munshi Abdul Rasool Shah to appear before it on Sept 3 and submit explanation.

During court vacations Justice Ghulam Rabbani heard the application, filed by Iqbal Kalhoro advocate on behalf of Syed Hassan Ali Shah, the uncle of the detainee.

The applicant stated that the SHO Mukhtiar Sario picked up his nephew from his office on May 28. He added that he was maltreated to such an extent that the police had to refer him to a hospital for treatment.

Justice Rabbani directed the district and sessions judge, Dadu, to appoint a judicial magistrate to carry out the raid which was conducted by the Judicial Magistrate Sikandar Ameer Pahore on June 4.

The magistrate checked station diary which did not contain any entry about detention or arrest of Shah.
