LAHORE, Aug 15: The Lahore High Court Thursday ordered registration of Hudood cases against two police officials involved in the rape of two sisters of Faisalabad.

Justice Mian Muhammad Najam-uz-Zaman directed the Satiana Police SHO to register cases against Inspector Alam Sher and Sub-Inspector Manzoor and submit a report in this regard.

The order was passed on a contempt petition filed by Mariam and Naeem Akhtar through advocate Shaista Qaisar.

The girls submitted that they had a dispute with their neighbour and the police at her behest, got a bogus case registered against them.

They submitted that they moved the Lahore High Court for quashment of the case. The court had directed them to approach the Faisalabad SSP who forced them to reach a compromise with the woman. On their refusal, the SSP handed them over to Inspector Alam Sher and SI Manzoor who took them to Civil Lines police station.

The girls said the police officials detained them in a lock-up and raped them from March 11 to 13, 2002, and later released them.

They had sought action against the police officials for not complying with the court order and a directive for the registration of cases against the cops who raped them.—APP
