KARACHI, Aug 13: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city on Tuesday.

A young man was run over by a speeding bus in Pak Colony in the morning.

Police said that the young man was run over by a speeding bus of route 7 (J-1196) while walking across the main Mewashah road in Rexer Line. The bus driver escaped after the accident.

Witnesses said the body lay on the road for a long time aggravating the traffic congestion during the peak rush hour.

Later, the body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

A young man died in a road accident on Super Highway.

Police said a truck skidded and overturned on the main Super Highway near Khathor due to drizzle.

The cleaner of the truck, Mohammed Fayyaz, aged 24, died on the spot.

His body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

CARJACKING: Twelve vehicles — four cars and eight motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Tuesday, police said.

One car was hijacked. Three others were stolen.

Two motorcycles were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Tuesday to have recovered four cars and two motorcycles in the city.

ROBBERY: Two young men, riding on a motorcycle, robbed an employee of an NGO of cash in Soldier Bazaar.

Police said Duran Shah was on his way to deposit Rs128,000 in a bank when he was robbed of the cash.

WOUNDED: A man, identified as Kashmir Khan, was found shot and injured near a football ground in Shafi Goth, Shah Latif Town area.

Police said a man, Ehsan, informed them by phone about the injured man. Khan was admitted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
