LAHORE, Aug 12: Four gunmen looted cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs1.2 million from a house at Nishat Colony in South Cantonment on Monday.

They stormed into the house of Muhammad Husain and escaped with cash, gold jewellery and valuables worth Rs1.2 million.

However, police said the fleeing robbers were intercepted by a police patrol. Two of them were rounded up while the others escaped with the booty, they claimed.

MURDER: A man allegedly stabbed to death a cook over a minor issue in Karim Park, Shafiqabad, on Monday.

Police said Salim Butt had hired cook Mushtaq for a function. Salim exchanged harsh words with the cook over a minor issue and stabbed him. The injured man was rushed to the Mayo Hospital where he died.

Mushtaq is survived by a wife and five children.

A case was registered with no arrest.

BODY FOUND: Abdul Hameed, 32, was found dead with a bullet wound in his abdomen from the fields in Hadiara on Monday.

His family claimed he was upset for the last some months over financial problems and had committed suicide.

Police, however, claimed that the wound did not seem to be a self inflicted and sent the body to the city mortuary for autopsy.

ELECTROCUTED: Mrs Salim, 40, was electrocuted while switching on a pedestal fan in National Town, Sanda.

ACCIDENT: Faiz, 35, who had sustained injuries in an accident in Model Town on Aug 7, died in a local hospital on Monday.
