Jirga decision sparks tribal clash

KHAIRPUR, Aug 12: The Sorah police on Sunday arrested seven Channa tribesmen after registering a counter case against them.

A matrimonial dispute between two factions of the Channa tribe was solved in a Jirga headed by Syed Ali Mardan Shah in Chundko.

One of the parties did not accept the Jirga’s decision and attacked the other group right there. A clash started as a result of which seven tribesmen were injured.

The head of the Jirga was also injured in the clash.

The Sorah police registered a case against the Jan Mohammed Channa group of Thari Mirwah and arrested seven tribesmen.

PROTEST: A large number of teachers of the Kingri Taluka continued their protest against the Education Department, Khairpur, for the third consecutive day in Pir Jo Goth on Monday.

They held a demonstration and raised slogans against the officers of the education department.

They alleged that some officers of the department in connivance with the treasury officials had prepared fake service books and certificates in the names of teachers and had embezzled a huge amount from their accounts.

PML (F): The president, PML (N) youth wing, Khairpur, Ghulam Abbas Farooqui, and general secretary, Ali Mohammed Jamali, with 15 other activists announced joining the PML (F) here on Monday.
