QUETTA The chief of his own faction of Jamhoori Watan Party, Nawab Aali Bugti, has called upon the government to take practical steps for the return and rehabilitation of Bugti tribesmen who allegedly left their homes due to military operation in Balochistan.

Addressing a group of Bugti elders in Sui on Sunday, Nawab Aali said the Bugti tribesmen who had been displaced from Dera Bugti, Sui and other areas were living in a miserable condition in different parts of Sindh and Punjab.

He said the PPP-led government after coming into power had pledged to grant due rights to Baloch people and take practical steps for the return and rehabilitation of the displaced Bugti tribesmen. But, he said, the government had so far done nothing to fulfil its promises.

He said some of the displaced tribesmen had gone back to Sui and Dera Bugti on self-help basis but a majority of them were still waiting for government assistance.

He urged the government to provide compensation to families whose members had lost lives in bomb blasts and armed attacks in the province.
