KARACHI, Aug 11: Police have arrested a woman for allegedly kidnapping children in Sachal police limits.

The woman, Saima, aged 45, was arrested after a resident of Bilawal Shah Noorani goth in Sachal police limits lodged a complaint. The complainant claimed that Saima had kidnapped his eight-year-old daughter.

Police arrested Saima, who confessed to have kidnapped the girl and handed her over to her accomplices. Police registered an FIR 121/2002 under section 363/34 against her and took her remand from a court till Aug 16. During interrogation, the woman claimed that she changed her residence quite often and now she had been living in Bilawal Shah Noorani goth.

She told police that she had earlier kidnapped some children and passed them on to her accomplices. She did not know what happened to those children, police said.

A senior police officer said: “She has not named her accomplices so far, but we hope she will tell the entire story in a day or two. However, she has pointed out some places where the complainant’s daughter may have been lodged, and we have raided those places in several areas. We are hopeful that we will soon recover the complainant’s daughter.”

The complainant, Sakhi Jan, however, expressed his dissatisfaction with the pace of investigation and alleged police had been providing a VIP treatment to Saima in the lock-up.

Sources said Saima, also a drug addict, had allegedly kidnapped 2-3 children some two and a half months back and she took them to her house. Someone in the neighbourhood noticed her activity and area residents got the children freed from the clutches of Saima. They also beat her and declared her insane.

When his daughter disappeared, Sakhi Jan approached police and informed them that Saima had kidnapped his daughter. In police custody, Saima not only confessed to have kidnapped Sakhi Jan’s daughter but also disclosed some old kidnapping of children. Police were investigating the cases, the sources said.
