KARACHI, Aug 7: Two ships carrying containers and high-speed diesel are due to arrive at the outer anchorage, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at wharves was maintained on the higher side as all the new arrivals were berthed soon after their signals from the outer anchorage.

They are: Swat, Sinar Bangka, Jaquline, APL Portugal, Kota Waris to offload and load containers, Lyra to offload DPA fertilizer and Mercs Sajinda to unload sugar for Afghanistan.

Sailing on the other hand was on the lower side as only one ship, Semirami departed. Another seven — Johar, Kota Waris, Jacquline, Ascot, APL Portugal, and Jamilta — are due to sail out on Thursday. Owing to steady arrivals, the berth occupancy was maintained on the higher side at 67 and 74 per cent both at the oil piers and the dry wharves, respectively.

The total tonnage further rose to 91,235 tons comprising 27,617 tons of export tonnage and 63,618 tons of import cargo.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Warbah, with high-speed diesel, and PONL Malandi, with containers.
