HARIPUR, Nov 6: Two persons, including a bride, were killed here the other day.

According to the police Hakeem Khan, a resident of Mohmand Agency, now living in village Kotnajibullah, shot her daughter dead on her wedding day. Hakeem, who’s daughter was getting married to his daughter-in-law’s brother, was unhappy with the infamous wata-sata (give and take - brother and sister marrying another brother and sister) arrangement.

On the wedding day, when Hakeem came to see her daughter, Shamim Bibi, off at the time of rukhsati he shot her in the chest with a pistol and fled. She was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
