LARKANA: ASI jailed for10 days

LARKANA, Aug 6: The Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit bench, on Tuesday sent ASI Fida Hussain Langah of the investigation wing, Civil Lines police, to jail for ten days.

He had misbehaved with a raid commissioner, additional registrar Abdul Qadeer Soomro, during a surprise check of lockups of the police station on Monday.

Justice Zawar Hussain Jafferi, on Monday hearing a petition of Hamz Ali Chandio, resident of Kambar town, regarding the detention of three persons, Mumtaz Ali Chandio, Imamuddain and Asghar Chandio, since their arrest on July 28, had appointed the raid commissioner for the surprise visit.

The raid commissioner found the three persons in the lock-up. Mumtaz was wanted in a theft case while the two others were kept illegally.

On Tuesday, the in charge of the investigation, Civil Lines, and the ASI appeared before the court where Justice Jafferi sent the ASI to jail and fixed Aug 15 for next hearing.

The two illegally detained persons were released.

HOUSES: Pakistan Baitul Mal chairman Parveen Qadir Agha on Tuesday supervised the balloting process of allotment of 100 houses to deserving persons in the presence of applicants in the People’s Stadium.

As many as 90 houses were allotted to the applicants on cheaper rates on easy instalments while ten houses were allotted to widows and handicapped persons free of cost.

The Pakistan Baitul Mal constructed these houses at a cost of Rs31,600,000, out of which the Sindh government provided Rs1,600,000 under the Khushal Pakistan Programme.

Around 4,100 applications were received for the allotment of these houses.
