HYDERABAD, Aug 5: Hundreds of villagers of Tando Jam staged a protest demonstration and blocked the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road for four hours to protest against the excesses of the Tando Jam police.
Addressing the rally, two villagers, Rajab Ali and Jafar Ali, said that innocent villagers were being arrested for the murder of a Kaleri woman who had been declared “Kari” and the police was minting money.
They said that the police had failed to arrest the actual culprits and innocent people were being made scapegoats.
They demanded the immediate removal of the investigating officer, Ghulam Hussain Mashoori, and a judicial inquiry into the murder cases.
They further demanded that strict action should be taken against those police officers who were patronizing and supporting the criminals.
They appealed to the district Nazim, Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, the Taluka Nazim, Pir Amjad Hussain Shah, the additional IGP, Hyderabad region, Abdul Rauf Yousufzai, and the DPO, Hyderabad, A. D. Khwaja, to take notice of the police excesses against the innocent villagers.
