PESHAWAR, Aug 3: A raiding squad of the Anti-Narcotics Force on Saturday arrested four alleged smugglers and recovered a huge quantity of narcotics from their car near Khairabad on G.T. Road.

On a tip-off, the ANF laid a picket at the Khairabad Bridge and intercepted the car, bearing a fake number-plate (A-2421). The car inmates were carried Kalashnikovs. The ANF men found hashish and opium in the car, said an ANF press release. All four accused were arrested and arms seized.

The alleged smugglers told interrogators that they were taking the contraband to some destination in Punjab.

The ANF personnel recovered about 308kgs of hashish and 2.5kgs of opium concealed in sacks. The accused were identified as Sher Afzal, Zafar Ali, Idrees Khan and Khaista Gul.
