LAHORE, Aug 2: The Lahore High Court on Friday issued notices to the advocate-general and the attorney-general for August 12 on a writ petition seeking recovery, production and release of Jamatul Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.

A notice was also issued to Punjab minister Ghulam Sarwar Qadri, whose statement that Hafiz Saeed was safe and sound in the provincial government custody, was brought on record.

The petition has been filed by Maimouna Saeed, the alleged detenu’s wife, through Advocate Nazeer Ahmad Ghazi and is being heard by Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad.

Both the federal and provincial governments have denied having arrested or detained Hafiz Saeed.
