FAISALABAD, Aug 2: A villager threatened self-immolation in front of the governor house if Samundri police failed to register a case against the Mureedwala RHC’s medical officer on the charge of killing his wife due to negligence.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, Fayyaz Ahmad said that his wife Irum Malika had complained pain in her stomach. She was admitted to Mureedwala RHC where MO Dr Ghulam Mustafa advised to shift the patient at Zohra Clinic for better medical facilities. The advice was immediately followed and she was removed to the private clinic of Dr Mustafa where he and his staff Ijaz Ahmed and Iftikhar Ahmed jointly examined her. They assured that her condition would become stable within two days and asked to arrange Rs10,000 as expenses. Later, Dr Mustafa was paid Rs8,000 accordingly.

The doctor and his staff without getting any permission from the family conducted her hysterectomy operation. She became unconscious due to mishandling and was shifted to Services Hospital, Lahore, where she died.

He alleged that policemen and officials of the Health department were protecting the accused doctor and his staff.

In the teeth of lodging written complaints against him, the police had neither so far taken action against the doctor nor called him for interrogation, he said.

The doctor had now started pressing the relatives of the victim to stop them from pursuing the case, Fayyaz added.

THREATS: Two girls, whose mother was killed by two boys, alleged that relatives of the accused were threatening them with dire consequences just to stop them for making statement before police.
