KARACHI, Aug 2: A young girl committed suicide in her house in Shershah on late Thursday night.

Police said that Nayla Aziz, aged 14, after an argument with her mother locked herself up in a room and hanged herself from the ceiling fan.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

CARJACKING: Thirteen vehicles — four cars and nine motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, police said. Two cars were hijacked. Two others were stolen.

Two motorcycles were hijacked. Seven others were stolen.

SHOT DEAD: A landlord of Sindh interior was shot dead in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Friday evening.

Police said that Muzaffar Ali Bugio, aged 40, was in his Suzuki Potohar Jeep (LSD-347) when he was intercepted by two assailants, riding on a motorcycle, behind Urdu Science College in Block 19 of Gulshan.

They opened fire from point-blank range on Bugio hitting him in the temple and face and escaped. He died on the spot. The body was sent to JPMC for post-mortem.

Police said that the dead man was from Larkana and here he lived in Defence.

A senior police officer said that the killing might be the result of personal enmity, as there were cases pending against the dead man in Larkana.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city on Friday.

A man died in a hit-and-run road accident in Jamshed Quarters on late Thursday night. Police said that Maqsood Ahmed, was knocked down by a speeding vehicle in the police limits of Jamshed Quarters. He died on the spot.

A 50-year-old woman, Jameela was run over by an unidentified vehicle on Stadium Road on Friday. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital, from where she was referred to the JPMC where she died.

DIE: A guard of a private security agency died in accidental shooting in Baloch Colony on Friday.

Police said that Sardar Khan, aged 58, resumed his duty around 8am at a private residence in Block-4 in Baloch Colony.

He was sitting on a chair holding his repeater gun, which was without butt, when it went off.

He died instantly after he was hit by a bullet in the abdomen.

A young man who had suffered gunshot injuries died in a hospital on Friday. He was admitted to the hospital on July 28.

Sources at the hospital said that Mohammed Iqbal, aged 35, was brought to the hospital from the police limits of Nasir Colony.

FOOD POISONING: At least nine persons fell sick, some of whom lost consciousness, after they took lunch in an eating-house in Ibrahim Hyderi on Friday.

Sources at the JPMC said that nine persons were brought to the hospital from Ali Barohi goth in Ibrahim Hyderi. The patients had fallen sick after they had lunch in an eating-house.

Hospital sources said that three persons were still unconscious and they described their condition as serious.

Police could not be contacted for further details about the incident.

KILLED: A teenager was stabbed to death in Liaquatabad on late Thursday night.

Police said that Hafiz Maqbool Ahmed, aged 17, was found stabbed to death in a religious school in Azam Nagar, Liaquatabad. He used to sleep in a vacant room of the school.

Sources at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said that there was a possibility that the boy was sodomized before he was killed.

His post-mortem report had been reserved till the receipt of the chemical report, the sources said.

Police said that the boy worked in a a milk shop in the same locality. A cousin of the boy, Sajan, came to visit with him about a week back. He had been missing after the killing of Maqbool.

WOUNDED: Unidentified men shot and wounded an official of Pakistan Air Force at Faisal Base on late Thursday night.

Police said that Ghulam Abbas, aged 40, was shot and injured by unidentified men at the main gate of Faisal Base.
