MANCHESTER, July 31: Rookie hurdler Lacena Golding-Clark led a Jamaican 1-2 as she won the womem’s Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles title here on Wednesday in a time of 12.77secs.

The 27-year-old former long jumper, who only took up the event this year, beat home her room-mate and training partner Vonette Dixon (12.83) while Nigeria’s Angela Atede took bronze (12.98).

Jamaica missed out on a probable cleansweep because national recordholder Bridgette Foster withdrew from the final because she pulled a hamstring on Tuesday.

Golding-Clark led from the gun with only 26-year-old Dixon capable of mounting a challenge but the leader had too much left in the locker as she put up a perfect display of hurdling.
