Ahmed scores hat trick

KARACHI, July 30: Ahmed Qasim scored a first half hat trick as Mauripur Baloch trounced Kohat Sports 6-2 in the All-Pakistan Invitation Football Tournament at Baloch Mujahid Stadium, Ibrahim Hydri (Malir) Tuesday.

Ahmed found the target in 20th, 32nd and 38th minutes as the winners surged into a 4-0 advantage at the lemons. The fourth goal was scored by Khalid Iqbal a minute before the interval.

Kohat hit back to reduce the margin after the break with goals through Liaqat China (44th minute) and Pervez Ahmed (49th minute).

However, Mauripur Baloch had the last laugh when Abdul Qayyum scored in the 55th minute while Nisar Ahmed made it 6-2 six minutes later.

Young Fighter overcame Sindh Muslim 4-2 after taking a 2-0 lead at the interval. Lal Mohammad opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Aamir Hussain doubled the tally eight minutes later.

Soomar Ali led Sindh Muslim’s fightback by striking in the 49th minute. Liaqat Ali extended Young Fighter’s lead to 3-1 in the 58th minute until Sindh Muslim’s M. Rafiq reduced the margin four minutes later.

Jaffar Alam ensured Young Fighter’s victory by slamming in the fourth goal 12 minutes before the final whistle.

In another match, Jam Eleven blanked Jalal Murad 3-0 after a barren first period of play.

Abdul Razzaq (50th minute), goal-keeper Abdul Ghafoor (55th minute through a penalty) and Ghulam Mustafa (72nd minute) scored for the winners.
