GUJRAT, July 30: A patwari was shot dead while his mate injured by rivals in the premises of local sessions court here on Tuesday.
Reports said patwari Mian Khan and his mate Azeem Butt were entering the court when three people opened fire on them and fled. However, court’s guard Zulfiqar caught one of the assailants identified as Ata Muhammad.
The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where Mian Khan was pronounced dead. The condition of Azeem was stated to be critical.
Civil Lines police have registered a case and are investigating.
Later, Gujrat Bar Association condemned the incident and termed the place a security risk.
