HANGU, July 30: A kidnapped man was recovered and three alleged abductors were arrested during a police raid on a hideout in the tribal area of Orakzai Agency on Monday.

The police also seized a vehicle and a sizable quantity of arms in the operation.

Mohammad Haroon had been kidnapped at gunpoint from the Doaba area and taken away to unknown destination with his vehicle some days back. Later, the kidnappers abandoned the vehicle at a deserted place and took Haroon to the tribal area.

Giving details at a news briefing, Hangu DSP Israr Khan said that Shahzar, Zarrab Gul, and Khanzar had kidnapped Haroon for ransom. He said the police arrested the three accused in the raid on their hideout, besides recovering the kidnapped person and the vehicle. The DSP said that during the preliminary interrogation, one of the abductors had confessed to having received share in the ransom.

SHOPS RAIDED: Health and food officials raided many shops and food outlets in the city and collected samples for laboratory analysis.

They advised the shopkeepers selling the food items to obtain licences, otherwise action would be taken against them under the Food Act.
