SUKKUR, July 29: Sindh Home Secretary Mukhtar Ahmad has said the general election will not be held under the supervision of army, adding that the Sindh police are capable to control the law and order situation during the election.

He said this after a high level meeting, which reviewed the law and order situation and a security plan for the forthcoming election, here on Monday.

He said no group or party had demanded to conduct the election under the supervision of army and added that no such proposal was under discussion.

The Sindh home secretary said a security plan had been prepared for the coming election and hoped that the election would be held in a smooth manner.

He disclosed that a plan for a massive operation against outlaws at the border areas of Sindh and Balochistan before the election had also been prepared.

He said the Balochistan government had also been in touch and would cooperate during the operation.

In reply to a question, the home secretary said after the directives of the Election Commission, no transfer had been made in Sindh.

SHO JAILED: The SHO, Khanpur Maher, Ghulam Nabi Chachar, was arrested on Monday on the orders of the DIG, Sukkur range, Mushtaq Shah, and was sent behind the bars.

The SHO had recovered a precious shotgun from a criminal which he did not show in the record of recovery. Instead, he showed the recovery of a Kalashnikov in the record of the police station, which too was not deposited in the police line.

The DIG also placed under suspension DSP Faiz Mohammad Bhindo and sub-inspector Habib on the charge of taking illegal gratification from Lal Bux Kalhoro.

He also ordered to demote both of them.

RALLY: Hundreds of residents of Changlani village and Ghotki took out a protest procession on Monday against Hesco officials for issuing detection bills and unannounced load- shedding.

The protesters also staged a sit-in in front of the Hesco executive engineer office, Ghotki, and raised slogans against Hesco officials.

They said detection bills amounting to Rs200,000 were issued in Changlani village.

SUSPENSION: Sindh Auqaf Minister Mian Abdul Baqi has ordered the chief administrator, Auqaf, to issue suspension orders of the manager, Auqaf, Sukkur circle, Muneer Ahmad Lashari, for poor maintenance of the office record and award of Auqaf shops on low rates.
