LAHORE, July 28: The PPP will announce results of the party elections at Karachi on Monday.

Most of the top party office-bearers, including chairperson Benazir Bhutto, for the central, provincial and district party offices have already been declared elected unopposed. Polling for the remaining offices was held throughout the country on Sunday.

“All the district and provincial party elections results will be pooled in Karachi for announcement by the chief election commissioner,” stated the newly elected Punjab PPP information secretary Naveed Chaudhry.

PR SECRETARY: Meanwhile, Qamar Chaudhry was elected Lahore PPP secretary (Public Relations), defeating his rival Dr Farooq Tahir with a huge margin here on Sunday.

Qamar polled 1,934 votes as compared to 126 secured by his rival while 137 ballots were declared invalid.

Some 2,197 registered voters of 3,400 cast their votes.

All other office-bearers of the Lahore PPP have already been declared elected unopposed.

Polling for the only district party office started at 9am and continued till 5pm. The party workers, including women, showed enthusiasm despite extremely hot and humid weather.
