RAHIM YAR KHAN, July 28: Polio is likely to be eradicated from Pakistan by the end of this year, says Mr Keith Feldon, technical officer, EIP (Expanded Programme on Immunization) of the WHO.
He was talking to Dawn after his evaluation of the polio campaign in the district.
Mr Feldon said in the EPI routine vaccination the main stress was on individual but in national campaigns masses were the main target so that no child was deprived of vaccination, thereby, leaving no room for polio virus.
Till 1988 the polio virus existed in 125 countries but now with the help of polio vaccination coverage their number had been reduced to ten (10).
