HYDERABAD, July 28: The residents of Khursheed Colony and Bhittai Colony, Kotri, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday against the acute shortage of water and unhygienic conditions in the colonies.

The demonstration was staged under the banner of the Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Awami National Party and the Shehri Ittihad.

The protesters raised slogans against union council Nazim Mohammad Yaqoob.

Speaking at the rally, Zulfiqar Ali Soomro, Bashir Ahmad Magsi, Nawab Pathan and Owais Ahmad said the Nazim was providing facilities only in his own residential area and sanitation staff was working in his house.

They said garbage dumps could be witnessed everywhere in the colonies and the sewage water had entered the homes of the residents.

They warned that if the garbage was not lifted and the sewage water was not drained out, they would enlarge the scope of their protest.
