BADIN, Nov 5: The Taluka Nazim of Badin, Dr Mussarat Hussain Khowaja, has severely criticised the action of Hesco for having disconnected power supply to street lights of the town and warned if the power was not restored by Nov , the council would take action, including disconnection of water supply.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday, he said Wapda has disconnected streetlights in the town on the pretext to recover an amount of Rs11.8 million in default against the Municipal Committee of Badin, but he said Wapda was the more defaulter of the Municipal Committee, as Wapda has deprived of the Municipal Committee of Rs16 million on account of octroi tax levied on Wapda equipment

Besides, he said, Hesco operation branches were defaulter of water charges of Rs3,15,300 and grid station and LBOD Wapda offices were also defaulters of Municipal Committee of Rs2,27,600 and Rs2,41,608, respectively.

He said Wapda was issuing inflated bills.

Quoting the instance of inflated bills, he said Wapda charged bills for two months showing consumed electricity of 4 small roads and the city as total Rs22,46,000 while nearly 20 bulbs were installed in each line of the roads.

He said it was painful for the council that how was Wapda playing with the government institution, then what would be fate of the common man, he asked? He blamed the local Wapda officials for misusing the authority by acting in this manner.
