HYDERABAD, July 27: The managing director, Water and Sanitation Agency, Hyderabad Development Authority, has notified on Friday that all the current water and sewerage tariffs of bulk and commercial consumers (all categories) as approved by the governing body of the Authority at its 96th meeting have been revised.
He claimed that Wasa-HDA has made the upward revision in its current tariff after about ten years notwithstanding the fact that during the intervening period, the cost of electricity, establishment and operation and maintenance had increased manifold.
He said that the sister organizations of Wasa have been revising their water and sewerage tariff from time to time due to frequent enhancement in the prices of POL and other necessary inputs. The revised water supply and sewerage tariff will take effect from July 1.
He, however, clarified that the current water and sewerage tariff for 98,341 domestic consumers would remain unchanged. The new water tariff for bulk consumers and commercial consumers has been enhanced by 50 per cent over and above the current tariff of 1994. The sewerage tariff for bulk and commercial consumers has also been enhanced by 50 per cent of the new water tariff.
POWER BREAKDOWNS: Power breakdowns and unannounced load-shedding in the Gari Khata Sub-division have become the order of the day, especially during the night, and as a matter of routine the power supply is switched off from 11pm to 5am almost daily.
The chief patron of the Anjuman Raza-e-Mustafa, Hafiz Matloob Ahmed Chishti in a statement issued on Thursday said that instead of delivering the bills to the consumers individually, the bill distributors usually hand over the bills of flats to the chowkidars of the multi-storeyed buildings which resulted in the delay of payment of bills.
He also took strong exception to the issuance of detection bills to the consumers.
He criticized the inclusion of fake calls in telephone bills, and called upon the Sindh governor and the DCO, Hyderabad, to resolve these sensitive issues on a priority basis.
