LARKANA, July 26: Professor Zaffar Pirzado, head of the Bio-chemistry Department and the Vice Principal of the Chandka Medical College (CMC), was injured in an attack by a group of armed men here on Friday night.

Mr Pirzado, who was in his private pathology laboratory when attacked, sustained injuries on his eye and skull and was admitted to the CMC Hospital.

Sources told Dawn that a man struck at his laboratory, located on the Hospital Road, and asked for him.

Four others joined him afterwards and they cut off the lab’s telephone line, they added.

After punching him frequently, the intruders hit him with some blunt weapon and escaped.

The sources indicated that the attack coincided with the results of his department in which certain candidates were declared fail in the professor’s subject.
