KARACHI, Nov 5: The test coordinator of the Institute of Business Administration, Abdul Hameed Khan, has tendered his resignation.

The IBA Director, Prof Dr Javed Ashraf, said on Monday that Mr Hameed’s resignation has been accepted.

We would now be conducting interviews for filing this very vacancy, he added.

Mr Hameed’s resignation has come in the wake of the controversy arising from the Oct 28 pre-entrance test for public- sector medical colleges in Sindh.

The test conducted by the IBA was later cancelled following allegations of fraud.

Dr Javed Ashraf maintained that the IBA management has conducted a thorough review and it transpired that no fraud was involved and it was just human error.

In an explanation, he said that two years ago, in 1999, during such a test, two booklets were stolen from the Larkana centre and eventually they reached the tuition centres that prepare students for entrance tests.

In the Oct 28 test this year, the 1999 test was repeated without realizing that two booklets were stolen from the Larkana centre.

“We have now decided that every test would be a new one and no paper would be repeated,” Dr Javed Ashraf added.

He said that the IBA regrets the mistake and measures have now been taken to prevent any such thing from happening in the future, he added.

Dr Javed Ashraf said that following the Oct 28 incident, the test coordinator, Abdul Hameed Khan, tendered resignation voluntarily. It has been accepted and interviews are being conducted for recruiting his replacement.

Meanwhile, the re-test for admission to first-year MBBS/ BDS programme of the government-run medical colleges in Sindh would be held on Nov 15.—APP
