ISLAMABAD, July 23: The president on Tuesday amended Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance, 2000, allowing a penalised civil servant to file representation within 15 days.

The Ordinance named Removal from Service (Special Powers) (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2002, provides for the substitution of Section 9 of the Ordinance on 2000 with the following clause: “A person on whom a penalty is imposed under Section 3, may, within 15 days from the date of communication of the order, prefer a representation to the chief executive or such officer or authority as the CE may designate.”

The Ordinance provides that where the order had been made by the CE, such person may, within 15 days, submit a representation to the president.

The president, the CE, or an officer or authority, as may be designated for the purpose by the CE, may, on consideration of the representation, and any other relevant material, confirm, set aside, vary or modify the order in respect of which such representation is made.

It further says: “In the said Ordinance, in Section 10, in the proviso, the words ‘or review petition’ shall be omitted.”
