NAWABSHAH, July 22: The Naib Nazim of the District Council, Nawabshah, Khalid Hussain Channa, presiding over the council’s session on Monday, said that the bureaucracy and newly inducted ministers were out to flop the new local bodies system.

He told the House that the irrigation department, police and Hesco authorities were not cooperating with the elected representatives while the ministers were issuing statements harmful to the elected bodies.

Mohammad Shah Bukhari, Regional Coordinator of the National Reconstruction Bureau, Islamabad, also attended the session and apprised himself of the problems facing the Nazims of different councils of this district. He assured the council members that their grievances and views would be conveyed to the president.

The members appealed to President Musharraf to take notice of the attitude of the bureaucracy and the ministers.

The House adopted unanimously a resolution, moved by a member, Mr Chandomal, against the inflated bills being issued by the Hesco to the consumers.

It also offered fateha for the departed soul of Hashim Zardari, uncle of the Zila Nazim, Faryal Talpur.
