KARACHI, July 22: The city government has chalked out a detailed practical training programme for UC Nazimeen, women councillors and union council secretaries.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan will inaugurate the training programme on July 30.

The programme details were approved at a meeting held under the chairmanship of DCO Karachi Shafiqur Rehman Paracha.

The DCO emphasised that the training programme be made meaningful and result-oriented so that elected representatives could perform their responsibilities with confidence and with an awareness about local bodies rules and regulations.

He took note of the lack of knowledge on part of union council secretaries with regard to the assignments they receive from the Nazimeen and asked the training officials to lay stress on their training.

He directed them that while imparting training, the union secretaries should be put to practical working so as to make them capable of carrying out office work, including written communication skill.

The DCO was informed that separate programmes have been prepared for the training of women councillors, Union Nazimeen and secretaries.

It was informed that 78 women councillors would be divided into ten groups for the training. The first group will consist of councillors of Union Councils of Jamshed Town and each programme will spread over two days. Besides, 178 Nazimeen of Union Councils will be divided into six different groups and their training programme will start after August 14.

The training of union secretaries will begin from August 5 and they will be imparted training in six groups.

The training programme will be conducted by officers of the city government, besides experts in local government laws.—APP
