LAHORE, July 20: University of Engineering and Technology’s Vice-Chancellor Lt-Gen Muhammad Akram (retired) has said that after water coal is the cheapest mean of generating power.

He told APP on Saturday that hydel and coal resources can play significant role in generating cheap energy in the country

The VC said that other means of generating power, including solar or thermal, would not work. In most parts of the world coal was being used as a major source for generating power.

He suggested that the reserves of coal in Sindh should be exploited which would largely help in bringing rates of electricity considerably low and ensuring economic prosperity and well-being of common man.
