GUJRANWALA, July 19: A local civil judge on Friday issued contempt of court notice to the Naushera Virkan tehsil Nazim, tehsil municipal officer and toll tax contractor on a petition filed by transporters.

The judge directed them to appear before court on Saturday (today).

The Naushera Virkan tehsil council had imposed the toll tax at Naushera Virkan and Tetley on the main Sheikhupura Road. The toll tax contractor and his men were involved in overcharging and humiliating bus and wagon crews.

The civil judge had granted stay order against the collection of toll tax some two weeks ago when transporters moved court. But the Naushera Virkan tehsil council and toll tax contractor continued collecting the toll tax. They also thrashed bus and wagon crews when they refused to pay the toll tax.
