LOS ANGELES, July 19: The UK-based Quaid Project Limited (QPL) has challenged the ruling of London High Court, which last week awarded 49,000 pound sterling in favor of Jinnah’s director Jamil Dehlavi.

Akbar Ahmed, the producer of Jinnah, told Dawn from his Maryland residence that his wife’s company, QPL, which controls the rights of the movie, has filed an appeal.

The London High Court last week dismissed Dehlavi’s three out of four claims, after a 4-day trial, but awarded 49,000 pound, 9,000 pound interest legal fee and 40,000 pound as production fee. The court dismissed the other three claims of 15 per cent royalties from the movie that he should be allowed to audit QPL and that he should be awarded credits.
