KARACHI, July 19: Twenty-one vehicles — six cars and 15 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, police sources said.

Two cars were hijacked and four others stolen in various localities, including Gizri and Clifton.

Four motorcycles were hijacked and 11 others stolen in several areas, including Orangi Town, Buffer Zone, Garden, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, TPX, Gulbahar, and Kharadar.

The police also claimed on Friday to have recovered one stolen car (KE-6845) and three motorcycles (ACZ-218, PG-2276, and KAP-1539).

ROAD ACCIDENTS: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city on Friday.

A speeding truck (LSA-9940) hit a motorcycle (LHF-615), on which two young men were travelling, in Nazimabad. As a result, the young men were seriously injured. They were rushed to a hospital where one of them, Mudassir, aged 25, died. The other injured man, Pervez, aged 27, was admitted to the hospital.

The police impounded the truck and arrested the truck driver, Ghulam Omar.

An unidentified man was un over by an unknown vehicle on Super Highway in Sachal police limits.

The body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem. After post-mortem, it has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.

DROWNED: The body of a man, in his thirties, who drowned in the sea, was recovered off Keamari on Friday.

The body was sent to a hospital where the dead man was identified as Rizwan, resident of Aurangabad, Nazimabad. It could not be ascertained immediately whether he fell into the sea accidentally, or he committed suicide.
