HYDERABAD, July 18: The AIG of Hyderabad region police, on public complaints, paid a surprise visit to the Sakhi Pir police station here on Wednesday and recovered two illegal detainees, Arif and Imran, residents of Mehboob Colony, Paretabad.

AIG Abdur Rauf Yousufzai also took notice that four other illegal detainees — Nadeem, Asghar, Akram and Javed — were released on a payment of illegal gratification of Rs10,000.

According to reports, they were brought to the police station on suspicion of having the intention of committing a burglary but neither an entry of their arrests was made in the diary of the police station nor any case was registered against them.

Taking serious notice of the illegal detention, the AIG suspended ASI Hassan Ali and constable Mohammad Anwar on the charges of corruption and keeping the people in illegal detention.

He also issued a displeasure note to the DSP Khalid Mustafa Korai and the SHO Asad Ali Qadri for dereliction of duty.

The AIG has also suspended sub inspector Mohammad Usman Leghari of the Tando Allahyar police station for his involvement in criminal activities and corruption. He directed the DSP, administration, Mrs Azra Miandad, to conduct an inquiry against Leghari and submit her report in seven days.
