KPT and Wapda triumph

LAHORE, Nov 3: National champion Wapda and Karachi Port Trust won their respective matches on the opening day of the President PFF Football Cup super league at the Islamia University, ground Bahawalpur, according to a message received here Saturday.

Altaf scored the first goal for Wapda in the 18th minute. Jamshed doubled the lead in the 25th minute. Khuda Bakhsh slammed his first goal on penalty-kick in the 36th minute to make it 3-0 which remained intact till the breather.

After resumptions, Wapda scored their fourth goal through Niaz Ahmad in the 58th minute. Railways’s Zaheer Abbas netted the solitary goal of his team in the 62nd minute before Khuda Bakhsh struck his second goal in the 70th minute and third goal in the 76th minute to complete the tally.

In the well-contested match KPT led the first half 1-0.

The winners took the lead through Fareed Majeed in the 20th minute. After half-time, KPT doubled the lead in the 60th minute when their international Abdul Khaliq scored a field goal.

PTCL managed to score their solitary goal through Shabbir Ahmad in the 84th minute.

Sunday’s programme: Navy vs Afghan Agency Chaman at 1pm; ABL vs HBL at 3pm.
