HYDERABAD, July 16: About three dozen members of the scheduled caste Kolhis, including women and children, staged a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against the raid on Kolhi Goth by the security personnel of the Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam.

Talking to newsmen, Prabhu Lal, Ajju, Kheho and others claimed that the security guards of the university had conducted a raid on the village, tortured women and the children and ransacked their hutments.

They said the excesses were aimed at evicting them from the village. When contacted on telephone, a spokesman for the university said that the Kolhis had only been asked to leave the university property illegally encroached upon by them.
