HARIPUR, Nov 3: The Zila Council has constituted eight monitoring committees here on Saturday. The convener, Riaz Khan Jadoon, presided over the meeting.

These committees were formed under Local Government Ordinance 2000 and were empowered to deal with the matters related to various public sector departments. The committees were also authorized to elect their chairmen.

These committees are: provincial affairs, public safety, code of conduct, justice, district accounts, sports and culture, works monitoring and agriculture.

For provincial affairs committee names of Mohammad Aslam Khan, Saleem Khan, Syed Masood Shah, Ahmad Sultan Khan, Irshad Khan, Akhtar Nawaz Khan, Austin John and Farzana Rauf, were approved. Khurshid Anwar Khan, Akhtar Nawaz Jadoon, Syed Hamid Shah, Chaudhry Faisal Zulfiqar, Qamar Zaman, Mati-ur-Rehman Qasmi, Qazi Raza, Farzana Rauf and Mrs Khwaja Pervaiz, were recommended for public safety commission. For code of conduct committee names of Mohammad Aslam Khan Bagra, Khwaja Ayub, Masood Shah, Raheela Kosar, Asif Ali Jah, Zaheer Abbasi, Sardar Haroon and Sultan Mohammad were recommended. In the Justice Committee Iran Nasir, Ahmad Sultan, Mrs Khwaja Pervaiz, Miss Eid-un-Nisa, Irshad, Qazi Modood-ul-Haq, and Omar Sajid were approved. Agriculture committee comprises Sardar Shakeel Alam, Khalid Tanoli, Qazi Modood-ul-Haq, Sajjad Shah, Riaz Ahmad Rukhsana Shaheen, Mrs Mahjabeen and Ghulam Sarwar.

District account committee comprises of Riaz Khan Jadoon, Shehryar Khan, Mrs Hameeda Pani, Mati-ur-Rehman Qasmi, Syed Hamid Shah, M. Aslam Khan, M. Younus, Nasar Iqbal, Mumtaz Akhtar and Qazi Raza. Works monitoring committee has Riaz Jadoon, Khurshid Anwar Khan, Firdos Khan, Raja Nasir Kiyani, Mrs Shugufta Shah, Mrs Rizwana, Qazi Raza and Irshad Khan as members.

Later the house approved all names and committees.
