SUKKUR, July 14: Decomposed body of a young woman was fished out from the Mithri Minor, a waterway near Ghotki, on Saturday.

Adilpur police claimed that the victim, aged about 17, was subjected to criminal assault before being killed some four days back. They said that the body was stuffed in a gunny bag which was thrown into the water course.

Postmortem of the body was carried out by a doctor in Ghotki. She said that torture marks were visible on the body which was lying unclaimed till Sunday evening.

The DPO of Ghotki has ordered a police inquiry into the affair and asked the investigators to submit a report within the next three days.

ACCIDENT: A 12-year-old boy, Ali Asghar Dayo, died after being run over by a wagon on the Indus Highway near Kandhkot on Sunday when he he was crossing the road.

When Asghar’s grandfather, Mohammad Murad Dayo, received the news of the sudden death, he was shocked to the extent that he died.

The Sukkur-bound wagon was coming from Punjab.

ARRESTED: An alleged bandit, Vishu Hejwani, was arrested in Tangwani, Jacobabad district, after an encounter, says the district police.

A Kalashnikov and some ammunition were recovered from his possession.

According to the police, on a tip off they conducted a raid on the hideout of the bandit who surrendered after a brief encounter.

CONTRACTORS: The Nazim of Jacobabad district, Shabbir Ali Bijarani, has warned all the contractors, working on schemes under different development programmes, to use standard material or face cancellation of their contracts.

During his on-site inspection of various KPP-III schemes on Sunday, he said that a joint committee of technical experts and councillors would conduct random inspection of the development work to ensure the contractors’ compliance with terms and conditions regarding standard of material.
