MIRPURKHAS, July 14: An inquiry into the unauthorized use of funds of the school management committees (SMCs) of two schools in Digri sub-division has been finalized.

The inquiry report said Mujahida Parveen, assistant district officer, elementary education, and other officials concerned, were responsible for the unauthorized use of the funds.

The inquiry was conducted on the directives of Mirpurkhas District Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani by Ali Mohammad Kaimkhani, assistant district officer (male), Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Khalid Pervez Sadaf, member, Mirpurkhas district monitoring committee, Mohammad Ashfaq, senior clerk of district officer, elementary education, and Karim Dino Junejo, DEO.

The inquiry report disclosed that Rs252,000 of funds of the SMCs of the Government Girls Primary School, Juddo, and the Government Primary School, Chango Khan Jarwar, were unauthorizedly used as the district Nazim had already imposed a ban over the utilization of the funds.

The report added that the SMCs were not authorized to utilize the funds till they were notified. Also, the head mistresses of both the schools and the chairman of the SMC were not entitled to utilized the amount without observing legal formalities.

The report further said the funds were to be utilized in different heads such as furniture, teaching material, water cooler, lacking facilities and repairs. But, it said, the schools, utilized the funds on only repairs.

It said the headmistress of the Government Primary School, Chango Khan Jarwar, was not appointed by the government and she was working as volunteer with the permission of Ms Parveen.

The inquiry committee has recommended to take disciplinary action against the defaulters.
