PESHAWAR, July 14: The Pakistan Awami Party (PAP) has termed the draft constitutional package an assault on the democracy and supremacy of parliament, and a mockery of the Constitution.

Provincial PAP General Secretary Syed Shaukat Shah said that if the graduates were illegible to contest the elections, only graduates should cast votes in the polls. If a voter could not present himself or herself as a candidate, he should not cast his/her vote, he added.

He said Gen Pervez Musharraf and his media adviser Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi held intermediate certificates and both came under their own definition of illiterates.
