KARACHI, July 13: The Pakistan railways has decided to set up a modern reservation office at the Karachi cantonment station to facilitate the growing number of passengers.

The federal government in the current fiscal budget has earmarked Rs6.9 billion for the development of the Railways. The funds have been allocated for the establishment of the office.

The project is estimated to be completed within the next nine months and is expected to commence opertion by March 2003.

The reservation office will have 30 lower and 15 upper ultramodern booking counters. The completion of the new facility will reduce additional burden on the city booking office to a large extent, thereby complaints of delay and nonavailbalibility of tickets will be controled. — PPI
