KARACHI, July 13: Six ships carrying containers, tallow, crude oil and to load naptha are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Sunday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves remained slow for the second day in a row because of delayed arrivals. As a result, only two ships, Warbah to unload high speed diesel and Good Hope to offload crude oil were berthed after the departure of five.

The ships, which departed included MOL Sincerity, MSC Carmen, Happy River Banglar Doot and New Star, while Noblesse, Paros, Good Hope, Hyundai Advance and Warbah are due to sail out on Sunday.

The berth occupancy at the oil piers rose to 100 per cent thanks to steady calling of tankers with crude oil, high speed diesel and chemical, while it fell to only 23 per cent at the dry wharves as arrivals of foreign flag vessels were delayed.

Shipping sources said high tides on open seas is delaying the arrivals of ships for last couple of days, which in turn has curtailed cargo handling activity at the wharves.

A total tonnage of 70,463 tons comprising 4,185 tons of export cargo and 66,278 tons of import tonnage including 60,416 tons of liquid cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Sunday: Conti Valencia, Sinar Batam, with containers, Andhika Adhidaya, with tallow, Berge Commander, to load naptha.
