KARACHI: Youth commits suicide

KARACHI, July 12: A teenage boy committed suicide by setting himself on fire at his Pak Colony house on Friday.

The police said that due to joblessness Salahuddin, aged 18, became a drug addict and he used to demand money from his family. The family refused to give him money on Friday for drug. Being an addict he could not live without drug, and he doused his body with kerosene and set himself on fire. He suffered serious burns. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The body was handed over to the family for burial after post-mortem.

ROBBERIES: Five robberies were committed in the city on Friday, the police said.

Two bandits, posing themselves as cable operators, entered the house of Abid Husain Khanzada in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, held the family hostage at gunpoint, and got away with cash and gold jewellery worth Rs1.4 million.

Samar Abbas lodged a report at Samanabad police station against the management of Habib Bank Samanabad branch when he found that his jewellery worth Rs5 million was missing from his locker in the bank.

Two men intercepted Mohammed Saleem in Artillery Maidan police limits at gunpoint and robbed him of cash and belongings.

Two bandits intercepted Khalid in Korangi at gunpoint and looted cash and belongings.

Robbers intercepted Mohammed Alam in TPX police limits at gunpoint and relieved him of cash and belongings.

DIES OF BURNS: A young man died of burns in his Lines Area house on Friday night.

Sources at Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre said that Naveed, aged 35, was brought to the hospital with serious burns from Lines Area in Brigade police limits. He died before he could be provided treatment.

The police said that they were informed of the burns death, but they had no report about the cause of the young man’s death.
