DHAKA, July 11: At least one man was killed and several others were injured in the Bangladesh capital on Thursday when four coaches of a train caught fire after it was involved in a collision with an oil-tanker truck, police said.

They said the train was moving slowly when it hit the truck, which had ignored a signal at a city crossing.

“We have recovered the charred body of a man from a badly burnt coach and removed several others to hospital,” one fire fighter told Reuters.

Police said the collision caused an explosion and a fireball, sending panicked passengers jumping out of the train.

The train was coming to Dhaka from Chittagong, railway officials said. No other details were immediately available.—Reuters
