Goalkeepers trial this week

LAHORE, Oct 7: Trials to select six goalkeepers for the national training camp will be held at the National Hockey Stadium on Oct 10 and 11.

A total of 26 goalkeepers who are  attending a week long training camp at the NHS will be appearing in the trials. The selected goalkeepers will join the national training which is in progress at the NHS for preparation of the Pakistan team for the 23rd Champions Trophy to be held at Rotterdam (Holland) from Nov 3 to11.

Three former Pakistan goalkeepers, Shamim Ilyas, Col Munir Pervez and Shahid Ali Khan are imparting training to the goalkeepers.

Meanwhile, the penalty-corner specialist Sohail Abbas has joined camp which resumed Sunday at the NHS after a day’s break. Sohail was the only absentee of the 30 probable who were called for the camp which started on Oct 3.

 Coach Hanif Khan who left the training camp Friday for Karachi to attend the burial of his elder brother has yet to return.
