KARACHI, July 11: Three men committed suicide in the city on Thursday.

A father of two committed suicide because of joblessness in his Mehmoodabad house.

The police said that Pervez Ashiq, 35, had been jobless for the past several months. He had been finding it very difficult to make ends meet. He had borrowed money from his acquaintances who were demanding the return of their money. Because of all this Ashiq found his situation unbearable, and on Thursday he hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his house.

The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy and was later handed over to the family.

A young man committed suicide by jumping from Native Jetty bridge to the ground. He died on the spot. The body was taken to Civil Hospital for autopsy where he was identified as Nauman, aged 20. Blood was dripping from his nose, ears and mouth because of the impact of falling, doctors at the hospital said.

A 50-year-old man hanged himself in his New Town house because of protracted illness.

The police said that Shaikh Mohammed Zaki had been suffering from a disease since long.
