LAHORE, July 10: Private land developers have demanded lifting all restrictions imposed on them to guarantee the development of private housing schemes in accordance with the plans submitted by them to the Lahore Development Authority.

The developers presented the demands for withdrawal of conditions like mortgage of 30 per cent plots for approval of private housing schemes and transfer of two per cent area of the schemes for mosques, schools, hospitals and other civic amenities at a meeting presided over by Punjab housing secretary Najeebullah Malik. District Nazim Mian Amer also attended the meeting.

The land developers said they should not only be absolved from the condition of mortgaging plots to guarantee development of the schemes in accordance with the approved site plans but exempted from the payment of costs of infrastructure like electricity, gas and telephone lines. The facilities should be provided by the agencies concerned at their cost. They, however, agreed to provide free of cost land for roads, open spaces / parks and graveyards.

The housing secretary promised to take up the matter with Wapda, PTCL and SNGPL for the provision of free of cost infrastructure facilities in private housing schemes.
